I will eventually implement an email form but for now let's see how this fares.
"Eventually, I see this presentation as collaboration with and by others on its overall design. Whether you're a writer, visual artist, website designer or in any category which you feel would contribute to the development of Esophy, you're invited to participate."
What has changed since I began Esophy is my perception about "collaboration". I still believe and expect that individuals along the way will contribute to the publication but I've tempered those expectations. I'm taking an easier attitude toward the endeavor in that I won't worry as to the time element with regard to deadlines, material from others and so on as one ordinarily would with a publication project. Please note that "easier" doesn't mean less effort with respect to the outcome, it means a different quality of effort and in that sense it could be said that Esophy will be making itself.
I'm not going to get into a ramble on defining what 'making itself' means. Time will define it and I think most readers and contributors are intelligent enough to understand my position with it. Let me just add that if it gets to the point where no one other than myself is interested in Esophy, then that's quite alright too; I will simply continue to use it as a presentational venue for my own interests.
Now, if you want to participate in Esophy with writing or artwork, then it's simple: just send me an email with a few words describing the material and we'll take it from there.
Some points to keep in mind:
Initially, a principal consideration for me was that the writing contributions to the ezine be new. I will still continue to make Esophy a place for newer material but what I will start doing is including material that has been already presented elsewhere. Mind you, this is not for the purpose of "filling up" the contents, what is chosen will be somehow appropriate to the 'atmosphere' of Esophy. I really can't give you a definite criteria at the moment as to what complements that atmosphere, it will be noted by myself when the material is encountered. Please also note that the assessment on my part will be fairly relaxed and flexible though I will not be floppy about it.
If the material you send is shown in Esophy what I request is a 15-day grace period before you present it elsewhere. If after that time it is presented elsewhere it would be nice if there were some mention that such and such originally appeared in Esophy; but this is something that I would like, not something I'm demanding. It is your work and if you'd rather not mention that it was originally shown in Esophy then you are perfectly entitled to do so.
In essence, being that Esophy is a publication with no advertising and no moneys being exchanged then it's simply a matter if one wants to be presented in it or not - free to come, free to leave.
